I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Salomons Institute for Applied Psychology, Canterbury University and provided specialist mental health care within the National Health Service as a senior psychologist for over 20 years. I provide bespoke services to individuals and couples within my private practice.
I have published research that has expanded my understanding of shame, developmental and social trauma, chronic mental and physical illness and the psychological processes involved in relational mindfulness.
I am committed to a depth and relational philosophy of mind. The human infant is born into total dependency on others and our minds develop in relation to that of our caregivers, affecting our physiological functions and emotional capacity to relate. What we think we know is never the complete picture, and it is arguable whether one can ever fully know one’s own mind. From this humbling position, I join with you in developing clarity, whilst holding a space for uncertainty and respecting the pace of your capacity to grow and change.
I have committed myself to years of development through my own personal therapy and ongoing professional development in a range of psychological specialties, with special focus on relational and psychodynamic models of mind. I use focused short-term approaches for immediate change and also provide long-term methods that respect the complex unfolding of difficult and painful truths.
